HBA Indianapolis Member Spotlight: Joy Neely

Joy has been in healthcare for over twenty years in pharma and diagnostics; and considers herself a cross-functional commercial leader with experiences that span sales, marketing, market access, business development, operations, and six sigma. In her current role in Market Access Development at Roche Diagnostics, she puts her expertise to work on reimbursement strategies for oncology and Alzheimer's diagnostics assays – while simultaneously collaborating with Roche teams across Diagnostics, Foundation Medicine, and Genentech. Her role also includes national account management responsibilities for fee-for-service (FFS) Medicaid and Managed Medicaid.

Joy first learned about the HBA almost 10 years ago through one of her colleagues at Lilly, Megan Brandenstein, who was serving on the HBA Indianapolis board at the time. During her time at Roche, Joy became involved with the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) internal business resource group at the company and started attending HBA events as a Roche HBA member.

When asked for some of the best advice she has ever received, Joy shared, “Some of the best advice I've ever been given and I keep going back to is, ‘Life begins at the end of your comfort zone’ by Neal Donald Walsh. The times when I've grown the most in my career or life have been when I've tried new things or ventured into new areas of the business.” Additionally, Joy wants to pass on to other HBA members a reminder to "be open". Be open to others, to opportunities, and to learning.
