HBA is an organization that depends on volunteers. Its success over the past years is entirely due to the efforts of its volunteers—people who work hard and often behind the scenes. Anyone who volunteers knows that it can be an essential part of our development as employees, managers, parents, or friends.

Volunteering can be immensely satisfying both personally and professionally. It also can help you learn to listen better and gain confidence in the ideas and wisdom of others. The HBA is pleased to honor our own Star Volunteer, Britta Herlitz, editor of the HBA Bulletin. Britta became an active member of the HBA in 1997, when she was selected to chair the HBA promotion committee. In that position, she worked to develop and produce all regular HBA seminar mailings as well as promotions for select special events, such as the Woman of Year luncheon. In 1999, Britta became co-editor of the HBA Bulletin. Earlier this year, she was named editor.

Under Britta's editorial direction, the HBA Bulletin has become an invaluable resource for members. She and her coeditor worked extremely hard to make the HBA Bulletin into a publication that is eagerly awaited six times a year by HBA's membership. Britta's efforts show that she is dedicated to the HBA. She can be counted on to deliver with enthusiasm and excellence in the true spirit of collaboration with her fellow HBA volunteers.
