2015 Denice Torres

Denice Torres honored as the 2015 Woman of the Year

Denice Torres honored as the 2015 Woman of the Year at the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) 26th annual Woman of the Year event.

The HBA Woman of the Year (WOTY) award honors one senior woman whose accomplishments have resulted in significant contributions to the healthcare industry. She is an inspiration to all because of her leadership style, presence, and savvy.

As president (at the time of receiving this award) of McNeil, a Johnson & Johnson company, Denice has been a true change agent, leading the company through an unprecedented time in Johnson & Johnson’s history. Under her exceptional leadership McNeil has seen sales grow at a double-digit rate, reclaiming leadership in several over-the-counter categories as well as #1 healthcare professional recommendation for many of those products.

"It is a privilege and an honor to be chosen as the HBA 2015 Woman of the Year,” said Denice Torres.  “Representing Johnson & Johnson, the HBA and so many talented women who have dedicated their careers to making a difference in the healthcare industry is a treasured opportunity. I am so excited and committed to ensuring our female leaders are able to shine incredibly brightly in our industry. Together we can - and are - changing the world by improving healthcare for consumers and patients."

Denice has served in key leadership roles across all three sectors of Johnson & Johnson -- pharmaceuticals, medical device and consumer. In 2004, Denice joined Johnson & Johnson as the vice president of marketing for Ortho McNeil Neurologics. Following that assignment, she served as vice president of U.S. sales and marketing for biosurgery and then president of central nervous system for Janssen Pharmaceuticals before being appointed president of McNeil Consumer Healthcare in 2011.

"Denice has been a friend, a colleague and an inspiration to me, and all of us at Johnson & Johnson for many years. Her business acumen, bold leadership style and her experience working across a diverse portfolio of businesses, make her a true stand-out in the healthcare industry,” said Alex Gorsky, chairman of the board and CEO of Johnson & Johnson and the 2009 HBA Honorable Mentor. “The HBA Woman of the Year award is well deserved and she joins a long list of high achieving women who have been honored."
