TWO BOARD MEMBERS FINISHED THIS STATEMENT: I AM PART OF THE UNITED FORCE FOR CHANGE BECAUSE… Shannon Resetich, 2018 HBA chair Advancing gender parity and partnership is the right thing to do – the right thing to do for women, for men, for business and ultimately for the patients we serve. As a female leader in the industry for the past 2+ decades, I have directly witnessed and experienced the negative effects of gender inequality and I have been dedicated to advancing diversity and inclusion. As a mother, I want my children and all in future generations to have a different reality than we have today. In this industry, we are all dedicated to saving and sustaining the lives of the patients we serve. We will continue to advance care for patients and deliver on this promise by working collaboratively and inclusively – tapping into the many diverse talents and perspectives we all possess. I have been incredibly honored to serve on the board of directors of HBA, most recently as chair of the board, and have confidence that with our ongoing collective efforts and dedication to gender parity we will succeed. Joe DePinto, 2018 HBA director at large To achieve top performance in an ever-changing healthcare industry, we need diverse leadership teams focused on leveraging different experiences, thoughts and backgrounds. Gender parity can be achieved through progress and focus, but it must start with gender partnership. When men and women can work together as peers in a mutually beneficial atmosphere where individuals are judged on their capabilities and intellect, not on their gender, background or race, the entire healthcare industry will benefit. I am part of this effort because I hope that, in the future, my daughter and women of her generation will work in an environment where they are evaluated on their drive, passion, intellect and emotional intelligence—not based on the fact that they are women. This can only be achieved by working harder and smarter as a unified force for change.  RADICAL HOSPITALITY | PROFESSIONAL ENRICHMENT | BUSINESS GROWTH | INCLUSION Winter 2018  |  11 2018 HBA BOARD OF DIRECTORS • Denise Pirrotti Hummel, JD, chief innovation officer, Lead Inclusively, Inc. • Joe DePinto, president, Cardinal Health Specialty Solutions • Julie Ross, president, Advanced Clinical • Kim Fox, communications leader, office of the chief medical officer, Johnson & Johnson • LeAnna Carey, global market strategy, Symplur (non-voting) • Liz Paulson, strategic account executive, LexisNexis (chair, Council of Chapter Presidents) • Melissa Stahl, managing director, KPMG LLP • Ozge Saritosun Kurtoglu, VP, pricing strategy and insights, Pearson Corporation The HBA’s board of directors ensures the organizational focus, strategies and plans are aligned to accelerate the HBA’s mission.
