Speaker: Deborah Grayson Riegel, CEO, Deborah Grayson Riegel Consulting
Every leader, team and organization have successes, opportunities and strengths. Any yet, most of us typically focus on asking “what’s wrong?,” “what’s not working?” and “what’s missing,?” instead of asking, “what do we do best?,” “what is working?” and “what do we want more of?”. When we seek out problems, we can inadvertently increase negativity, anxiety and stress within our teams. An alternative approach is to shift our focus from problems to possibilities using a tool called Appreciative Inquiry (AI), which offers a collaborative, strengths-based approach to managing change and challenges.
In this interactive session, you will bring the topic of focus (such as Investing in My Career, Embracing Diversity and Inclusion, or Delighting our Customers) and our facilitator will bring the process. You will: learn what Appreciative Inquiry is and why it works; explore the five principles of appreciative inquiry, applicable to everyday challenges and opportunities; practice the Appreciative Inquiry process by applying it to a current challenge or opportunity you are facing; and leave with the knowledge and confidence to navigate any challenge or change using the AI framework.
