Woman of the Year (WOTY)
The HBA’s Woman of the Year (WOTY) honor is the healthcare and life sciences industries' premier award recognizing an individual who has served as a role model for excellence in leadership throughout her career. This respected individual may work for a large company or be an entrepreneur—the common denominator is that she has been an inspiration to many because of her leadership style, business acumen, and track record of nurturing and advancing top talent. Honorable Mentor
The Honorable Mentor award is a highly-coveted industry accolade recognizing a man who demonstrates a long-term commitment to advancing women in the workforce, is dedicated to developing, mentoring and promoting women in the industry, and is supportive of the HBA’s mission. Learn about the submission process.


STAR (Strategic Transformation Achievement Recognition)
The STAR recognizes an extraordinary HBA volunteer who stands apart as an exemplary role model to others due to her/his demonstrated long-term commitment to gender parity and the ability to help the HBA further our mission and goals. Candidates are the most senior and impactful volunteer leaders at the HBA and the award recipient is selected because of the significant and global impact they have made to the association over the years. Learn about the submission process.

Judging Process

  • Submissions are reviewed by an awards selection committee composed of seasoned industry executives with a history of dedication to the HBA mission
  • Each committee member reviews the submissions and independently ranks candidates against defined criteria
  • The judging committee meets to consider the summarized ratings and debate the merits of each candidate’s submission and makes a final decision 
  • The outcome of the committee’s decision will be shared with the point of contact
