Meet HBA Toronto Member: Michelle Callegari

Meet our March member spotlight, Michelle.

Michelle is in the process of transitioning to a new role at AstraZeneca, from specialty care cardiorenal sales to oncology sales in ovarian and prostate cancer.

Why did you join the HBA?
I joined the HBA in September 2020, as a way to meet new people, connect and share ideas with like-minded women in the healthcare sector. I saw a post from a past AstraZeneca colleague, who I really respect and enjoyed working with, about an upcoming HBA session — that piqued my interest and I joined shortly after. It is an amazing group to be a part of, especially during the ongoing lockdown we are experiencing to continue learning, growing and meeting new people, as we have lost a lot of that over the last year.

What are your interests outside of work and the HBA?
While I enjoy exploring Toronto, I love to escape city life for any adventure from the sea to the mountains, especially in Italy. I like to keep active and my mind fit with lots of HIIT/CrossFit training, and road-cycling balanced with light gardening, yoga, hikes at the lake and patio season. What or who inspires you? I find interacting with others very inspiring. When I am connecting with other people and sharing experiences, activities, or adventures I feel my best.

What’s your favourite quote?
My favorite quote is about being nervous when trying something outside your comfort zone. I heard Silken Laumann speak about it, but I believe the quote comes from Rob Gilbert. “It's all right to have butterflies in your stomach. Just get them to fly in formation”.
