For the first time, we brought together Ambassadors from Europe, Asia and Africa in November to celebrate their achievements, recognize program best practices and engagement and grow our Ambassador Community. This event exemplified the impact Ambassador programs are making in developing leaders of tomorrow and driving gender balance in healthcare.
The Global Ambassador program is still a youngster outside the U.S. having launched in Europe in 2015, but it is expanding rapidly with more than 600 Ambassadors today. Globally, the Ambassador program is growing by 50 percent annually reaching 30 active programs this year. Through Ambassador leadership development initiatives, women and men find a stronger voice and a platform to be braver, take risks, engage with senior leaders and move the needle for themselves in the short space of a year.
We were honored to welcome Silvia de Dominicis (MD medical devices, J&J Italy) and Sumant Ramchandra (president, Baxter) as our keynote speakers. Both gave the audience insights about how they lead, answered many participants’ questions and challenged the audience to try some new behaviors.
The event also took time to honor the many individuals who make these programs possible. HBA Ambassador Champions give considerable time and effort to launching and maintaining their programs internally and the following individuals were recognized for their efforts:

We congratulate Corporate Pathfinder Award winner Sahana Nayak (J&J) for paving the way for new J&J programs that will impact hundreds of people. Thanks to her vision and dedication, HBA and J&J will continue to build on this innovative initiative.
We salute our Ambassador Impact Award winner IQVIA, India. Their “Empowering Women” initiative showcases best practices in creating a leader-led speed mentoring program giving women a safe environment to engage with senior executives to share challenges and experiences; build a culture of mutual support.
Thank you to Laurie Cooke, our incredible speakers, Champions, advocates, advisors, organizing team and all of the Ambassadors for making the 2020 HBA Global Ambassador Awards event a fantastic milestone in our journey. We will be launching an official HBA Ambassador Community in early 2021 including our best practice and initiative library to allow Ambassadors to connect, share and continue the conversation. Stay tuned.
