HBA San Diego is thrilled to present a SPARK award to Lara Poling as an acknowledgment of volunteers who have distinguished themselves through “bursts of awesomeness”.
Lara is self-driven and passionate about clinical research and improvement of healthcare outcomes through innovation. She is currently a graduate student enrolled in UC San Diego’s MAS in clinical research and also an awesome programming volunteer.
As we are a growing chapter and constantly developing our programming offerings, Lara has been a consistent force for positive engagement, collaboration and consistent focus on how we can add value to our programs for all those involved. Additionally, she created and started the population of our new chapter calendar using Google’s platform to streamline and improve our program planning process. She has also taken on tasks that were new to her with an enthusiastic and positive attitude. By doing so, she contributed a fresh perspective that helped us move the program forward in a most effective manner with the creation of organization tools, shared by all.
Valerie Gionis, HBA San Diego programming director at large, proudly presented Lara the SPARK award at the HBA Creating a Culture of Innovation Workshop on 24 October. "Lara has shown true leadership in HBA program management, by not only contributing to but also demonstrating the core value of advancing the impact of women in healthcare,” she said.

Thank you, Lara, for your “burst of awesomeness” and helping with our efficiency and communication for HBA San Diego.
