Meet HBA Houston’s Women in Science, Houston Chapter Lead, Sirisha Burra

How did you begin your career in healthcare?
I am a strong believer in providing everyone with the right to the highest attainable healthcare regardless of one’s socio-economic situation. While obtaining a Ph.D. at the University of Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) and training as a postdoctoral fellow at MD Anderson Cancer Center, I had a chance to meet healthcare leaders and listen to their influential ideas on improving the existing healthcare system. Nurtured in such a highly motivational environment, I developed a strong desire to be a part of the ongoing healthcare movement and contribute towards transforming the healthcare system.

What are you passionate about?
Healthcare research and management, scientific writing and serving others are my passions. For the past twelve years, I have been immersed in various areas of the laboratory management and helped fellow researchers write successful grant applications. The main motto of my life is to help others achieve their fullest potential.

Why join the HBA?
The HBA provides an excellent platform to setup the business network, which is crucial for any successful career. HBA Houston has an excellent leadership team to help their members achieve their career goals and help make their c-suite dream possible.
