HBA Houston Networking and Volunteering with Project C.U.R.E.

On Tuesday, 7 May HBA Houston hosted a networking while volunteering event with Project C.U.R.E. in Houston, TX. This was an informal event to gather HBA members and non-members, as well as give back by volunteering for Project C.U.R.E. to help prepare medical supplies for shipment to hospital and clinics in need. Attendees, from more than 15 organizations, enjoyed a fun evening networking, making new connections and learning about the HBA, while sorting, packing and warehousing medical supplies.

After our guests had the opportunity to network and learn more about the HBA, Janet Thomason, Project C.U.R.E., director of national procurement gave HBA Houston an inspiring presentation. Janet is responsible for reaching out to manufacturers, distributors and medical facilities in order to secure the product donations which will ultimately help Project C.U.R.E. save lives in developing countries. Many commented that this fun event was great way to give back, while building stronger business connections and friendships. We look forward to coming back.

This event was organized by Amy Whitfield, senior regional business director at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Julie Cook, immunology business manager at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Inc. At the event, the HBA Houston Honored Volunteer award for May was presented to both Amy and Julie for their contributions to HBA Houston. Thank you, Amy and Julie.

We would also like to thank all of the HBA Houston members and guests who volunteered: Kalia Aparicio, Noranne Basham, Lisa Clissold, Diana Cumbow, Joan Damon Simon, Breanna Driggers, Kristin Farber, Jenny Frantz, Emily Hobaugh, Tracy Lilly, Shandy Moore, Kawanah Polidore, Adriana Sanchez, Juny Simpson, Nate Sylvester and Zaro Zaman.
