How did you begin your career in healthcare?
After attending Texas A&M in College Station, I went into the healthcare industry. I began my career as an athletic director of a health club and then transitioned to managing corporate health screenings. Now, for the last 10 years, I have been in pharmaceutical sales. Currently, I am an immuno-oncology territory business manager at Bristol-Myers Squibb. Along the way, I have also been a field sales trainer and have achieved national and regional awards.
What are you passionate about?
My family and serving others are the two things that I am the most passionate about. I live in the NW Houston Suburb of Cypress, TX with my husband, Shane, daughters, Zoe (15) and Tessa (5) and son, Noah (6) and I don’t want to leave out our sweet puppies, Marshall (1 yr) and Dudley (11 yrs). I enjoy being involved in organizations where I can use my time to give back and lift up those in need. In addition to being involved with the HBA, my daughter Zoe and I belong to a non-profit organization of mothers and daughters serving the community together called National Charity League (NCL), which has been an amazing experience to bond with each other while making others smile.
As a parent, I strive to raise strong, independent children that show empathy towards others. One of the ways I do this, is by showing them through my own actions. I am all about practice what you preach. So, in addition to my career, the HBA and NCL are great ways I show them how I continue to learn, gain new skill sets and form new relationships. I love sharing with my husband and oldest daughter what I learned after an HBA event. I am honored to be a member and look forward to enhancing my career with these great women.
How did you first learn about the HBA?
I heard about the HBA while I was working at Teva Pharmaceuticals where two colleagues did a presentation about the organization at one of our business meetings. It was fascinating to hear about an organization that would allow me to network and learn from others while attending events and webinars which helped me develop new skill sets. At the time, I was at a place in my career where I knew I wanted to be a rep for the next 10 years but I still wanted to grow professionally and learn. This was a perfect fit.
From HBA Houston
Amy Cormier is currently an immuno-oncology territory business manager at Bristol-Myers Squibb and the HBA Houston marketing and communication, director-at-large. She has consistently demonstrated an amazing attitude, enthusiasm and initiative to help HBA Houston grow from the very beginning. Amy received the HBA Houston Honored Volunteer award in August 2017.
Thank you, Amy, for your dedication to inspire and further the advancement and impact of women in the business of healthcare.
