HBA Houston Recognizes Ritu Nadkarni as an Honored Volunteer

HBA Houston Honored Volunteer award was presented this month to Ritu Nadarni. Ritu was nominated for her commitment and many contributions as a volunteer for HBA Houston. She has demonstrated an amazing attitude, enthusiasm and initiative to help the HBA Houston grow. Most recently, Ritu has been volunteering on the HBA Houston Shoot for the Stars event Executive Committee for our inaugural HBA Houston panel discussion, which was inspired by Ritu last summer. Thanks to Ritu’s ability to assemble an all-star panel, HBA Houston had an incredible event with more than 120 attendees. Ritu was an excellent moderator that evening and many guests commented that it was one of the best HBA Houston events that they have ever attended.

Ritu is currently a vaccines medical affairs lead for the state of Texas, where she works with thought leaders and is responsible for developing advocacy, providing scientific support and leading implementation projects with key state and integrated health systems. Ritu’s tenure at Merck spans more than 10 years. She began her career at Merck working in the global customer insights group, supporting Isentress and the Virology portfolio. In 2008, she was the recipient of the Brand of the Year award, a Merck Marketing award, for her contributions. Ritu then joined the vaccine space in retail pharmacy. With the pharmacy team, she has been a consistent top performer, winning a VP award in 2015 and finishing with the highest growth in Zostavax in the nation in 2016. Along with her roles in the field, Ritu has done multiple marketing stretch assignments with MSD Asia Pacific and MSD India Vaccines, delivering strategic insights and suggesting tactical plans based on US field experience.

Beyond her work at Merck, Ritu also brings more than five years of experience in international marketing. She held multiple positions across three continents and has expertise in hospital management and medical device segments. Ritu holds a Master’s degree in international business from the Symbiosis Institute of Foreign Trade, Pune, India and a Master’s of Business Administration from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Glendale, AZ from where she graduated as a Beta Gamma Sigma honor society member. Ritu resides in Houston, TX with her husband Kunal and their son Ayan (8) and daughter Avya (5). In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and writing for business publications.

Thank you, Ritu, for your dedication to inspire and further the advancement and impact of women in the business of healthcare. HBA Houston would not be possible without the contributions of volunteers like Ritu. We are lucky to have Ritu as part of the team.
