Hello fellow HBA-ers,
As we all start to layout (and execute) plans for the new year, it's imperative that we each take the time to lay the foundations for success – for ourselves and for our teams.
In an age where everything seems urgent and smart phones allow you to work 24/7, be sure that you're enabling your teams to work smarter - not harder. In my latest article for the Forbes Council, I share the mistakes that keep us from streamlining communications and gaining business success.
For those of you who were able to attend HBA Northern Chicago's events in October and/or November you may remember a few of the examples I shared:
- Understand corporate goals: Make sure your people understand company goals and how every action they take on a daily basis contributes to the organization's overall success.
- Keep work within effective hours: Ever notice that snowball effect of one line responses when someone sends an email at 8 p.m.? Keep work to working hours (or delay your send times) and you'll notice a big difference in the quality of communication and engagement from your team members.
- Prioritize, prioritize, prioritize: I really can't say it enough. Ensure that your teams’ priorities are achievable and marry up the most important goals for the year.
