Dear HBA New York,
I hope this year has been one that overflowed with opportunities, learning experiences and many “firsts.” We’ve had many “firsts” throughout the year including: the “Join Me in NYC” campaign, designing new event badges and banners with HBA’s United Force for Change branding along with the assembly and delivery process of these items and an HBA educational event with both in-person and live stream attendees.
I am incredibly honored to have served as your president this past year and look forward to my new role as global committee chair, corporate relations.
As we look ahead to 2019, our chapter looks forward to continuing breaking ground with many more firsts, including HBA’s first ever, male chapter president, Michael O’Brien. Some of you may be scratching your head wondering “why a male president in a women’s organization?” As HBA members, we strive for gender parity and diversity and inclusion. We want equal opportunities and the best person to be placed in a job – not because of sex or race or any other reason than they are the best. Michael has been an active HBA member since 2003, who has unapologetically shown his heart, passion and dedication over the years through corporate sponsorship, mentoring and most recently stepping into the director at large role for members and volunteer engagement. I encourage you to reach out to him to set up time for a brief conversation. HBA New York looks forward to seeing his continued success in helping to move the needle on gender parity and among many other things.
I’d also like to welcome two other new board members for 2019:
• Membership and volunteer engagement, Jennifer Hahn
• Programming, Susie Arshonsky
Thank for you for the opportunity to serve as your president. I look forward to seeing the continued successes and firsts of the NY chapter.
If you have any comments, questions, and/or would like to volunteer, please reach out to us.
