Blythe’s career path is a prime example of how engaging with HBA can open doors and identify new professional opportunities.
An Indiana University graduate in marketing, Blythe spend several years in various sales roles in the pharmaceutical, medical device and healthcare business systems industry. She joined HBA in 2016, after getting to know members of the board and Executive Advisory Committee and became secretary to the board in 2017. Looking for new professional opportunities in early 2018, Blythe experienced tremendous support from local HBA members who, for example, connected her to hiring managers or served as references. One of these relationships, with Terri Pascarelli, CEO of AIT Bioscience and HBA Indianapolis founder, led Blythe to take on her current position as inside sales representative at AIT Bioscience.
Asked about the impact HBA has had on her career, Blythe says: “The power of networking with members who are willing to support your professional development plans and facilitate conversations cannot be underestimated. HBA helped me find and pursue opportunities with companies that care about professional development as much as I do. I’ve gotten back (at least) ten times what I invested into HBA.”
In her current leadership role on the HBA Indianapolis Board of Directors, Blythe is looking forward to see growth and diversification of our membership across Indiana’s healthcare organizations, through a variety in programming. She urges new and current members to take full advantage of the HBA community: “Think about what your goals are: networking, professional development, building leadership skills? Then reach out to the HBA network and ask for it!”
HBA Indianapolis wishes to thank Blythe for her dedicated and passionate engagement as a leader on the Board of Directors. We’re excited to see her amazing work in 2019.
