A group of 30 people, both members and non-members of the HBA, met face to face and virtually for a new member orientation meeting at the Pfizer offices in Surrey on 12 July. This was an opportunity to learn about the membership benefits and hear Bina Green (director chapter operations) share her HBA volunteer role story where she was encouraged to apply by Rachel Mortimer, her manager, in line with her HBA development. Lisa Pringle (regional business finance centre lead Europe) shared her experience so far within the program and what she is hoping to achieve.
We learned about the local chapter of the HBA, including how you can volunteer in one of the HBA committees, what volunteers do and heard stories from members of the HBA and what drove them to join. Attendees shared stories of their upbringing and the influence on their development in a career setting, discussed the importance of bring up our children to understand the importance of gender equality as well as other hot topics.
Representatives from across the healthcare spectrum were represented at this event and we look forward to future opportunities to network across this community.
