This month’s member spotlight is on Maria Rompf, business development analyst at Roche Diagnostics in Indianapolis. Maria is a longtime HBA member and this year is serving on the marketing committee, specializing in our social media presence. She is from Germany originally, studying science and biochemistry in undergraduate and masters programs. She then achieved her PhD in life sciences. Upon moving to the United States with her husband, she found that she loved analytics but was interested in finance and strategy as well. At Purdue University, she earned her MBA and then began a relationship with Roche as a summer intern. In early 2017, she joined Roche full time in global business development. She specifically works in diabetes care strategy, conducting analyses for partnerships and alliances with external parties. She enjoys working with other medical device companies to bring new innovations and collaborative solutions to this market.
Maria joined the HBA in 2013 in Switzerland in order to meet contacts in the life science sector; however, there was really no chapter in the Geneva area. She and a few other interested members worked together to re-launch the Geneva chapter, doing everything from event planning, to promotion, to budget management. Upon her move to the U.S., she maintained her membership but was very busy with her school. When she joined Roche she was able to re-engage and join our marketing committee. She’s really excited to get more connected in the Indiana area with different companies and women with varying experience levels. Coming from the academia side, she wants to obtain more cross functional skills and potentially expand her leadership role in the future.
We are extremely grateful for the hard work Maria has put in so far in 2018 and look forward to having her as part of our continued membership in 2018. Congratulations Maria.
