HBA Northern Chicago volunteer of the month (January): Mary Russell

HBA Northern Chicago is pleased to announce that our January volunteer of the month is Mary Russell. When asked to share her experience as an HBA Chicago volunteer, she told us:
"This award means more to me than I can ever express and is truly an honor. Thank you so much. Joining the corporate healthcare world about five years ago, after a long career as a healthcare provider in a hospital, was daunting. The HBA provided a wonderful entrée—an amazingly welcoming group of women from all areas of business who made me feel that I belonged. Having volunteered in professional groups for years, I soon took advantage of the HBA’s offer to ‘sign up’ (on paper at the time) for a role in the organization. After reasserting my interest, a time or two over a few months, I was ultimately connected with the outstanding DAL Jen Dickerson who drew me into her incredible volunteer engagement team. These can-do women and men, along with the membership team, quickly modified the orientation process to assure that all HBA volunteers are quickly introduced, welcomed and placed in positions that meet their personal goals and advance the mission and vision of the HBA. Working with this team has led to great friendships, laughter, collaboration and the opportunity to help honor the annual awardees who keep the HBA vibrant and highly relevant.”
