This month’s member spotlight is on Dr. Theresa Rohr-Kirchgraber, the executive director at the National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Kirchgraber is a clinician, an educator and a strong advocate for women’s health issues. Upon earning her nursing license from Cal State, she quickly realized she wanted to be even more involved in patient care and went back to medical school. After graduating Cornell University with her MD she focused her practice on internal medicine and gynecology.
When she moved to Indianapolis and joined the teaching faculty at the IU School of Medicine, she became more entrenched with advocating for women’s health. In her current role overseeing the National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health, she works to improve the health of Indiana women and their families through collaboration, outreach and education. Some of these programs include free healthcare screenings, mobile care delivery and education on healthier behaviors.
Dr. Kirchgraber has been involved with HBA for several years, mainly through the partnership with the American Women’s Medical Association. She’s looking forward to being even more active this year and helping the organization to reach more female medical students and residents here in Indianapolis. We look forward to having her as part of our membership in 2018 and learning from her extensive background in healthcare.
