HBA Chicago is pleased to announce that our June volunteer of the month is Taylor Bogan. When asked to share her experience as an HBA Chicago volunteer, she told us: "I recently joined the HBA Chicago chapter in October of 2016. I first heard about the HBA from a company wide email which highlighted the opportunity to get involved with a professional women’s healthcare organization. Being a new graduate and professional, I wanted the opportunity to network with others outside of work and attend events that would help me grow professionally. I first got involved with the GenNext committee by attending a “career mapping” workshop. After seeing what the committee had to offer, I could not resist getting further involved. When the opportunity arose to spearhead a networking event, I made sure to take the lead, so that I could give to others what the “career mapping” event gave to me. I wanted the opportunity to be able to bring together people from different backgrounds and allow them to connect with others. By volunteering and planning the “Nothing but Networking” event, I have had the opportunity to give back to many others that attended. I also was able to build on certain skills that come with planning such a large professional event for the committee.
Finally, I would like to thank the volunteer engagement committee for awarding me this honor. It was a pleasure planning the networking event. I look forward to seeing what the HBA Chicago chapter and the GenNext committee hold for me. Thank you."
