HBA San Francisco would like to extend our congratulations to Gisela Paulsen for being awarded the HBA 2016 Council of Chapter Presidents’ Award.
The HBA Council of Chapter Presidents’ (CCP) Award recognizes an individual who demonstrates consistent leadership that directly progresses the CCP agenda, fosters collaboration throughout the council and brings best practices to fruition across chapters. Serving as 2016 president of the HBA San Francisco chapter, Gisela has been recognized for her consistency throughout 2016 and her willingness to show up as a leader. Gisela fostered collaboration and best practices and was always an encouraging supporter and leader through the navigation of challenges.
Gisela joined the HBA in 1996 after having just moved from Sweden. She was a pharmacist by training and was seeking to build a network of other likeminded women in healthcare. The HBA has provided Gisela with a network of brilliant women, many that she now calls friends, and endless opportunity to develop and grow as a leader. Through her involvement in the HBA, Gisela has fine-tuned her ability to influence without authority by leading and inspiring volunteers, all while improving on her empowerment skills. As Gisela notes, when leading volunteers, "you have to inspire them to want to do the work, and then trust that the work is being done." While it may be difficult at times to let go of control, Gisela’s motto is ‘let great people do great work’, and the HBA has truly allowed her to ‘flex that muscle.’
Gisela would like to extend a thank you to all of the 2016 directors at large for their support and unwavering commitment to the HBA mission. “I was very fortunate to have a board made up of amazing talented women, who all were extremely passionate and accountable and got the job done.” notes Gisela.
Congratulations, Gisela, on behalf of the HBA SF Bay Area Chapter.
