Kari Gearhart, principal, was recently recognized by the HBA Greater Philadelphia board on 29 November at Pfizer in Collegeville, PA for her exemplary leadership and volunteer service as the 2016 programming committee, director at large.
Kari has demonstrated tremendous leadership with programming for HBA Greater Philadelphia. Kari not only formed the programming center of excellence, but she also leads the newly appointed COE directors with meetings and she developed materials that can be used by her successors. Kari set an excellent example and tone for a successful transition. This required leadership acumen, as several members on the team were already working with programming. There was a shift/change management element required, in addition to the organizational structure rework. This meant more responsibility for Kari, which she graciously accepted.
Through applied leadership development and mentorship, Kari helped her team members grow and evolve in their capabilities—taking on more responsibility as leaders and ownership for their work. Kari developed exercises to share with the team during quarterly team meetings, offering team members materials from which to engage and reflect upon their goals, styles and how to get the team to a new level.
There are 31 programs this year—a huge undertaking. Kari uses influence to guide and engage with programming team members, through demonstrating good leadership behaviors and demeanor. She is a consummate professional in all situations and sets a steady and calming tone for the programming team and those with whom we partner. Kari is consistent and generous in her partnership and collaboration. Partnership with Kari means having a committed and goal oriented collaborator who constantly shows care and concern in achieving the goals of the HBA organization and individual and team goals. She is supportive and wants the best for all involved.
Kari truly leads by example. Her dedication to leading our programming committee has positively impacted our HBA community. She has demonstrated the leadership capabilities we believe make our Greater Philadelphia chapter shine.
By all accounts, Kari’s leadership efforts with the programming committee have been very successful. Congratulations Kari.
