Panel of healthcare women leaders share their experiences at September HBA Kansas City event - “KC Healthcare – Leadership Live”

HBA Kansas City held another excellent event which provided the ability to connect and engage with other businesswomen. The 90 members in attendance had the opportunity to hear valuable insights from a panel of healthcare women leaders representing The University of Kansas Cancer Center, Bayer Animal Health, PRA Health Sciences and Teva Pharmaceuticals.  The executive panel included:
  • Katie Hiett, VP, contracting, Teva
  • Kerry Ann Kocher, senior director, Bayer Animal Health
  • Teresa Lamantia, Senior VP, research, Quintiles
  • Chris Wilson, director, PR/communications, KU Cancer Center
The common theme among each panelist was a willingness to learn something new and how each dynamic experience helped them grow into the leader they are today. These experiences included:
  • Gaining experience from different industries gave them a breadth of experience and skills that they could use in any corporate setting
  • Be willing to face your fear and step outside of their comfort zones helped them to grow
  • Increase your comfort with networking and continue developing good networking skills
  • Let your work speak for who you are, don’t just talk about yourself
  • Be willing to mentor others, you can learn from the mentee too
  • Women need to support other women
  • Let go of the guilt of being the “perfect mom” – ensure you have a support system
  • Remember, In any situation…you are enough
In addition to networking and the informative panel discussion, members and guests also donated clothing for the local Dress for Success organization.
