Danielle Virant recognized as the 2015 HBA Ohio chapter LEAD award winner

Danielle Virant, division vice president of commercial services, Abbott Nutrition Division of Abbott, Columbus, Ohio, and executive sponsor, Abbott's WLA group (Women Leaders in Action) Executive Sponsorship team, East region

Each year, HBA Ohio honors one volunteer who is deserving of distinguished recognition as a result of demonstrating excellence in sustained contributions at a local level; positively impacting the chapter and its ongoing success; exemplifying leadership excellence overall; and demonstrating dedication to the HBA's core purpose to further the advancement and impact of women in the business of healthcare.

This year’s award honors Danielle Virant. Danielle is a member of the HBA Ohio board of directors, serving as director-at-large for programming. She is an excellent role model and ambassador for the HBA. Though Danielle’s tenure has been brief, her impact is significant. Upon assuming this role in January, she mobilized a large network of volunteers in each of Ohio’s three regions, Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland, to plan and implement relevant programming. She led strategic efforts to gauge member interest and value, creating synergies among initiatives and regions. Danielle and her teams’ efforts to date have culminated in over 45 timely and interesting programs, two of which were large-scale and drew over 100 attendees each. We recognize Danielle for all she has accomplished, as well as the innovation and energy she brings to the role, enabling our chapter to thrive.

Danielle was recognized at our signature event on October 8, 2015 in Cincinnati and was recognized at the HBA Annual Conference in Atlanta in November.

While accepting the award, Danielle said, “the role has allowed me to lead by example: rolling up my sleeves and building a strong foundation for the current and future programming team. Helping women in healthcare develop as leaders is important for Abbott, and it is something that I fundamentally believe in. I appreciate the recognition and look forward to building on lessons learned this year and provide even more innovation and ultimately, value next year.”

Congratulations to Danielle for this prestigious and well deserved honor.
