The HBA San Francisco chapter is proud to announce the 2014 LEAD (Leadership Excellence and Dedication) award winner: Shweta Hakre. This is awarded each year to one exceptional individual from every chapter who has made significant contributions to the chapter.
Shweta has consistently gone above and beyond to continue to develop the HBA San Francisco chapter. By serving as a role model for others, she has demonstrated the value of volunteering while getting most of the HBA membership.
As an active volunteer in the HBA San Francisco chapter for almost two years, Shweta has transformed from a shy, soft-spoken scientist to a prominent face of the chapter. She has been involved in the corporate relations, programs, volunteer engagement, membership and market research committees and worn multiple hats including that of a liaison. Some of these activities included welcoming new members onboard, serving as a project manager for the programs committee and playing a critical role in the organization of two key events in 2014: the dine-out with David Beier and the networking social in April.
She was instrumental in assisting the chapter to gain a new sponsor, Gladstone Institutes and spearheaded the organization of the competency-based interviewing event at the Gladstone Institutes in May.
Shweta was grateful to receive the LEAD award:.
"I am honored, humbled and grateful to have been selected for this esteemed award. I have had a truly wonderful experience as a volunteer on the various committees of the HBA SF chapter. I am grateful to each and every volunteer/member with whom I have had the pleasure of working and interacting with. Each of you has been incredibly supportive and an absolute joy to work with. I consider myself fortunate to be surrounded by such a talented group of women who I learn from and who want to learn from me in order to fulfill the HBA's mission "to further the advancement and impact of women in healthcare worldwide".
Shweta has relocated to the east coast to pursue career opportunities after finishing her post-doctoral training in San Francisco. To recognize her dedication to the HBA, the board of the HBA San Francisco chapter has decided to sponsor Shweta's attendance at the HBA Annual Conference in Chicago next month. Thank you for your hard work and dedication, Shweta.
