Greetings from HBA Chicago Board President Laurie Wessels

Summary:

It’s the time of year when you evaluate where you are in meeting your goals and begin to focus on the 2013 plan. Where does the time go? The HBA Chicago board of directors began the year with three simple goals: increase the value and perceived value proposition of membership; increase membership; and increase member engagement. We are in this process of evaluation right now. These goals reflect our overall vision of being a thought leader center for women in healthcare.

Hello HBA Chicago chapter,

It’s the time of year when you evaluate where you are in meeting your goals and begin to focus on the 2013 plan. Where does the time go? The HBA Chicago board of directors beganLaurie Wessels the year with three simple goals: increase the value and perceived value proposition of membership; increase membership; and increase member engagement. We are in this process of evaluation right now. These goals reflect our overall vision of being a thought leader center for women in healthcare.

We are happy to report that membership is up 10%, with new members up 38%. While these numbers tell us we are attracting new members, it is imperative for us to improve our member retention and increase the value proposition for our members. Our member satisfaction continues to increase, the overall program attendance and program satisfaction average is at an all time high, and we have an increasing and more engaged volunteer base. About one-third of our members are now volunteering and we continue to increase our leadership opportunities for them.

I hope you find the progress toward our goals interesting and exciting. We realize that none of our goals can be accomplished without our members’ help. We continue to look for ways to improve the HBA Chicago chapter and together with your help we will. We invite you to let us know what is working and what we can improve. This is your organization and the board humbly represents our members and our corporate and chapter partners.

We are diligently putting our strategic plan together for 2013, as well as a very exciting and innovative event schedule. We welcome new volunteers. If you are a member and would like to get involved and help make 2013 the best year yet, please let me know, or contact Diane Karija, our director-at-large for volunteers, directly at dkarija@duffygroup.com

I encourage you to take the time to evaluate your progress to 2012 goals. Ask yourself “what do I need to focus on for the remainder of the year?” Also, check that you are clearly paving a way to your vision. As you are developing your 2013 individual, team, or organizational goals make them measurable, it is critical to measure the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. And don’t forget that volunteering for the HBA Chicago chapter is a great way to gain new skills and enhance existing ones.

All our best to your success.
