On January 20, the HBA St. Louis Chapter launched its 2010 program series with a primer on social media entitled "Social Media as a Growth Strategy – Professionally and Personally." Anne Theis of Navvis & Company held an incredibly informative and interactive program with over 60 attendees. The event was sponsored by St. Anthony's Medical Center and was held in the St. Anthony's Hyland Education and Learning Center, which was an excellent venue! The setting allowed for ease of networking both before and after the event. Anne's dynamic and entertaining speaking style, along with her incredible flexibility, facilitated the flow of questions and answers and the sharing of ideas throughout the program. Attendees were provided with tools to help develop a social media strategy, gained knowledge about different sites and which ones to use depending on individual goals, and learned how to get started! Anne recommended starting with one or two sites, such as LinkedIn and/or Twitter, just to get comfortable. The clear message was that social media is what PCs and e-mail were to us 20 years ago, and what cell phones are to us today. It will be the way we communicate and transact business and our lives. Ask any recent college graduate!
As promised to all attendees, you may download the presentation materials from the event. Materials from future HBA St. Louis events will be posted on the members-only Resources tab on the St. Louis Chapter section of the HBA website.
