I volunteer for the United Force for Change because health equity cannot be achieved without leadership, diversity and gender parity.
Volunteering has impacted my career by allowing me to contribute back all that I’ve learned in my last 35 years as a professional. As an employer, we encourage all of our employees to volunteer for the HBA because invariably they are more inspired, more connected and stronger as professionals.
My favorite HBA event is the HBA Woman of the Year. These are the most inspiring events I have attended in my career. This year’s Woman of the Year is going to be virtual and, therefore, bigger and more far-reaching than ever before. It’s going to be an epic event. Don’t miss it.
Volunteering has expanded my network by giving me the opportunity to meet and connect in a meaningful way with bold, talented, passionate women that are going to make a difference no matter what they have to deal with.
The most valuable lesson I learned from a fellow volunteer is that there won’t be any health equity without gender equity.
I applied for my current role with the HBA because I want to see the HBA grow, expand and make an even bigger difference.
What would be your advice to someone thinking about joining or getting more involved with the HBA? Go all in. The returns will be exponential.
