Interpersonal Persuasion: How to Sell Your Ideas Graciously

Chiara B. Motley, executive coach, GK Training

"Why selling isn't a dirty word (hint: everyone says, 'I don't want to come across as salesy or pushy')." Life is selling; motivating and influencing others to buy your ideas, recommendations or products is an essential skill whether you're at the beginning of your career or a seasoned professional. This breakout will focus on personal persuasion and prove that persuasion (like communication) can be learned, improved and mastered. We teach a proprietary acronym model that reinforces gracious interactions by helping participants use five types of questions to push dialogue and have other-focused conversations. By mastering these skills, you will leave better able to navigate a host of persuasive conversations and situations with intentionality and skill. Using the same curriculum taught at Columbia Business School, government agencies and coaching clients around the world, Chiara Motley of GK Training will lead a highly participatory breakout that teaches simple, actionable and repeatable techniques to be more persuasive and to project confidence, authority and credibility.
