2017 HBA Indiana group mentoring program now open for applications

If you’re an industry leader—or want to become one—here’s your chance to learn, grow and forge relationships with others who want to do the same thing. In a group-oriented program, mentoring circles consist of two mentors matched with four-to-five mentees who share a common area of focus. The team then works together over the course of six months, meeting no less than once a month, primarily in-person, striving towards their goals.

Mentee or mentor?
  • Mentees are emerging leaders. They have a strong sense of their development needs and can identify one or more areas in which they need mentoring support. Mentees must have the time to prepare for their group’s meetings, fully participate and help plan these sessions, and then “do the work”—that is, be willing to stretch, take risks and use resources to tackle their mentoring goal.
  • Mentors are seasoned executives with significant experience in the healthcare industry or related services. They have a keen sense of their own strengths coupled with the ability and commitment needed to guide their mentees. Mentors are willing to share of themselves—relaying stories and anecdotes from their careers, recounting successes and failures, offering ideas and approaches, and identifying tools and connections. Most mentors have experience in a director-level or higher position and have developed both individuals and teams. They are the cornerstone of this program, donating their time and talents to their groups. As volunteers, mentors do not pay a fee and are not required to be a member of the HBA.
How to apply:
  1. Register for the program as a mentee or mentor. Deadline for applications is 21 April 2017
  2. Complete the application survey which will be sent to you after you complete the registration process.
Note: Applicants to the program must complete both the HBA event registration and the mentoring application survey in order to be included.

Program objectives:
  • Connect with individuals from all sectors of the healthcare industry
  • Develop goals and action plans for your individual development
  • Achieve results by testing ideas and, gaining insights from others while receiving feedback in a safe environment
  • Enhance your visibility and effectiveness at work using the skills you have polished or developed through this program

27 April 2017 5:30-8:30 PM Program kickoff / meet your mentoring circle
May 2017 to October 2017  Mentoring circles in progress
Mentees: $125 for applications received on or before 10 March 2017; $150 after 10 March 2017
Mentors: No fee, membership not required
