Greetings from HBA Chicago Board President Laurie Wessels

It’s the time of year when you evaluate where you are in meeting your goals and begin to focus on the 2013 plan. Where does the time go? The HBA Chicago board of directors began the year with three simple goals: increase the value and perceived value proposition of membership; increase membership; and increase member engagement. We are in this process of evaluation right now. These goals reflect our overall vision of being a thought leader center for women in healthcare.

Hello HBA Chicago chapter,

Getting the most from your HBA membership, a message from Kathleen Case, chapter president

Know what you want to achieve and be ready to ask.
Women don’t always feel comfortable asking for assistance, introductions, or professional advice from strangers. In our Chapter, we are not strangers – just friends-in-the-making. What are you looking to achieve?

Stephanie Bova is the 2011 president of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association She has been in the HBA since 2003 and credits the HBA with providing exemplary opportunities for building key relationships and leadership skills.

By Stephanie Bova, Pfizer Inc

I have discovered great value and far-reaching benefits from being a member of the HBA for the last eight years, The HBA has provided ample opportunity for me to develop leadership skills in ways that I would not have been able to do otherwise. One of my favorite quotes, by Adele Gulfo, president of primary care at Pfizer, illustrates the importance of leadership to me. It is, “People don’t follow strategy, people follow people.”
