Event recap: Review of Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg, hosted by Kimberly Farrell

On July 24, Kimberly A. Farrell, CEO of Unlimited Performance Training, Inc., facilitated an interactive discussion of Sheryl Sandberg’s book, Lean In. The event was hosted and sponsored by Theravance.

Kimberly emphasized Lean In is not a “how to” book. Readers must evaluate their own situation and decide what works for them. Here are some highlights and takeaways on the discussion: 

HBA San Francisco chapter new member raffle winner

I currently volunteer for HBA San Francisco chapter’s volunteer engagement and market research committees and won the 1:1 Career Coaching session with Kate Utt for the new membership raffle awarded at the “Investment Trends in the Healthcare Industry “ event. I am trained in molecular and cellular biology and virology and am passionate to learn more about the healthcare field.

“Being a Change Agent” LSS workshop filled to capacity

The Leadership Success Series (LSS) presented a one-day workshop: Being a Change Agent. The program included custom-designed techniques and exercises for professionals to facilitate organizational change in the healthcare industry. Consultants Wendy Capland and Martha Miser “demystified” the external and internal process of psychological change.

Increase the impact of your messages with non-verbal communication

Did you know that body language and tone of voice contribute more than 90 per cent to the impact of a message?1 This ultimately means that an audience will believe the non-verbal message if it contradicts the verbal one. To make things even more challenging, controlling body language is undoubtedly more difficult than choosing words.
