Oct 27, 2009 - HBA Announces Its 2009 Annual Leadership Conference
SAN FRANCISCO--The Healthcare Businesswomen's Association (HBA) announced today that it will host its annual HBA Leadership Conference November 18 - 20, 2009, at the historic Westin St. Francis in San Francisco, Calif. This year’s conference, Limitless Leadership: Bridging Today, Tomorrow, and Beyond, is HBA’s first conference on the West Coast and promises to be this year’s premier leadership conference for healthcare professionals featuring motivational keynote speakers, networking opportunities and dynamic programs and workshops.

- Libby Gill, an internationally respected executive coach, best-selling author of You Unstuck and Traveling Hopefully, creator of the “Dr. Phil Show,” and a renowned corporate communications executive at Universal Studios and Sony Pictures, kicks off the conference with the opening plenary session, Creating a Culture of Leadership: Three Strategies for Igniting Bold Leaders at All Levels.
- This session highlights potential opportunities to challenge and motivate professionals to experience greater and continued success in their careers and the healthcare industry.
- The HBA Leadership Conference Executive Luncheon Panel, Redefining Leadership in a Time of Change, includes an extraordinary lineup of executives. Each panelist will share their leadership qualities and skills during times of change and how they are providing new insights and focus that may be applied to the transforming healthcare environment. - The HBA Leadership Conference is excited to offer a new biotech track this year, E-Level Science: Innovation at the Executive Level in the Science Vertical, hosted by National Public Radio’s Dr. Moira Gunn. The session features an expert panel of executive women scientists whose leadership and innovation are influencing C-level decision making and transforming healthcare. Experts will share their personal stories of leadership and how scientific innovation at the executive level can help drive a successful path forward. Speakers include Susan M. Molineaux, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer and Founder, Proteolix, Gisela M. Schwab, MD, EVP, Exelixis, and Kornelija Zgonc, VP global R&D instrumentation and engineering, Life Technologies.
- Dr. Gunn will also moderate a separate symposium that includes an esteemed panel of biotechnology experts addressing topics that cover biotech healthcare, food, and fuel, including updated results stemming from the first-ever Bio Economy Summit. This symposium is presented in partnership with BayBio, an independent, nonprofit trade association serving the life-sciences industry in Northern California.
- To close this year’s HBA Leadership Conference, Steve Farber, author of The Radical Leap: A Personal Lesson in Extreme Leadership, will lead the final plenary session, which promises to offer practical tools and experiences to apply to professional lives. In The Radical Leap program, Steve shows participants how to use the LEAP framework—Love, Energy, Audacity, and Proof—to do just that. He'll also be sharing ideas from his newest book, Greater Than Yourself: The Ultimate Lesson of True Leadership, which will be given out to all attendees.
