Dec 27, 2007 - HBA Greater Philadelphia Chapter Hosts Holiday Event and Annual Awards More than 75 people attended the HBA Greater Philadelphia Holiday Event on November 29, 2007 at the Double Tree Guest Suites in Plymouth Meeting, Pa. The event, sponsored by Endo Pharmaceuticals, celebrated the Annual Award winners, confirmed the 2008 HBA Greater Philadelphia Board of Directors,, and gave members the chance to do some holiday shopping. Lee Ann Kimak, President of the HBA Greater Philadelphia Chapter, gave a welcome speech and presented the board nominations and awards. Jenifer Antonacci, Associate Director, Product Communications at Cephalon, received the Above and Beyond Award for her contribution to the growth and development of women in the healthcare industry. Peter A. Lankau, President of Endo Pharmaceuticals, received the Honorable Mentor Award for his commitment to developing, mentoring, and promoting women in the healthcare industry. Maria Miazga, Senior Medical Sales Specialist at Eisai, Inc., received the Volunteer of the Year Award for her tireless efforts throughout the year. Following the presentation of awards and elections, a moving speech on behalf of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition was given by Lynne A. Caplan, herself an ovarian cancer survivor. She thanked members for their support of events such as “Walk for the Whisper” and reminded everyone of the joy of being with family and friends during the holiday season. To further help get participants in a holiday mood, shopping was made available throughout the evening. Thanks to our participating vendors who offered a variety of unique gifts for sale, including, Federici Glass Designs, Lia Sophia Jewelry, Michele Grady Jewelry, Premier Designs Jewelry, Spangles LLC, Spilada Jewelry, Sweet Ashley’s Chocolate, Tastefully Simple, Sew Designed, Bloomin’ BusinessCol de Mer Sea Leather , Stampin’ Up, Fruit and Fiber Farm, Hand Made Crafts,, and Wan Fu Kang Skin Care. The next HBA Greater Philadelphia event, “Affinity Talks,” will be held on January 15, 2008 at McNeil Consumer Healthcare.
