Oct 6, 2008 - Harnessing Volunteer Relationships to Create Powerful Teamwork Outcomes

A Review of the HBA Metro Chapter’s Annual Business Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Event

This year marks the beginning of a new tradition: the inauguration of the incoming chapter board prior to the Leadership Institute and Conference. This new arrangement gives our 2009 incoming board members the opportunity to acclimate better, to become involved earlier in the planning for the new Chapter year, to have ample time to learn from their outgoing predecessors and . . . to attend the Leadership Institute and Conference together as the incoming HBA Metro Chapter Board of Directors.

And so, over 130 voting HBA members gathered for the Annual Business Meeting and the Volunteer Appreciation Event in the rooftop loft of Penthouse 15 in New York City, on the night of October 2, 2008.

The 2009 board will be presided over by Julie Kampf. Julie’s roles within the HBA include Co-Director of programs, Managing Director of Development, Vice President and President-Elect. Last year she was named chair of the global Rising Star program for WOTY for the third consecutive year.

Julie is founder and president of JBK Associates, an award-winning executive search firm that – in just a few short years – was named one of Working Mother magazine’s top 25 Woman Owned Businesses, certified as a woman-owned business by the prestigious Women's Business Enterprise National Council and became a member of the AESC, Association of Executive Search Consultants. Most recently she has launched Career Central, a coaching and leadership development consulting firm that works with client companies and individuals to help develop, train and coach future leaders in industry. She is a frequent speaker at corporate and industry events as well as an expert source for the media. In her spare time, Julie sits on the Howard University Board of Visitors for the John Johnson School of Communications and raises monies for such charities as The Guiding Eyes for the Blind and The Women's Health and Counseling Center. She is also a founding member of the United Women in Philanthropy of Bergen County.

Julie will be assisted by an Executive Committee, consisting of:

After the official part of the evening concluded, everyone had an opportunity to socialize and build relationships at the Penthouse 15 loft. Vicki Coffin, Director of Volunteers of the HBA Metro Chapter and her team organized a very elegant evening, honoring the many volunteers that collectively have made and continue to make the HBA Metro Chapter into what it is: “THE Organization for the Advancement of Women in Healthcare.”
