The Metro Chapter of the HBA will be holding an executive presentation on the evening of June 16, 2010 on the timely topic Pharma 2020: The Vision. Novartis Pharmaceutical Corporation will be hosting the event at their East Hanover, NJ headquarters.
On June 28, 2010 the Metro Chapter of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association will be hosting their 1st Annual HBA Metro Chapter Charity Golf Tournament at Architects Golf Club in Phillipsburg, NJ. This philanthropic event is an opportunity for the HBA Metro Chapter to “give back” to the community it serves.
“Transformation in Times of Change” is the theme of the Metro Chapter’s 2010 Evening Programs. The theme couldn’t be timelier: transitions surround us, from employees facing transitions in their careers to corporations facing transitions forced upon them by healthcare reform, mergers, acquisitions and the ever-present restructuring.
The HBA Metro Chapter is pleased to announce the 1st Annual HBA Metro Chapter Charity Golf Tournament benefiting Tomorrows Children’s Fund of the Hackensack University Medical Center. The event will be held on Monday, June 28, 2010 at the Architects Golf Club in Phillipsburg, NJ.

More than 130 people gathered at the Daiichi Sankyo Training and Conference Center to network and gain new perspectives from a diverse panel of accomplished women speaking about “Managing Cultural Differences: Multicultural and Generational Leadership in the 21st Century”.
Health Care Reform: Opportunities and Challenges, a highly informative presentation was effectively delivered by James P. Carey, Vice President, Health Policy, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation.
On October 1st, the HBA’s Metro Chapter Affinity Group WHIT -- Women in Healthcare Information Technology -- held a meeting featuring the Annual CIO Panelist Discussion: Leading for the Future-as the NEW IT Organization Emerges.
The Metro HBA is the largest chapter of the HBA with over 1,700 members. Without the work of our volunteers, we would never be able to manage this chapter effectively to meet our goal of helping women enhance their skills and advance their careers.

The HBA Metro CONNECTIONS Upscale Wine Tasting and Networking Event held on June 2nd was a huge success. With over 150 people in attendance, a fabulous venue, and delectable wines, the event was perfect for making CONNECTIONS and was a delight for our palates.
On April 2nd, at Daiichi-Sankyo, the HBA Women in Healthcare Information Technology (WHIT) Affinity Group hosted an event focusing on developing your networking skills --both in person and by leveraging technology.
On April 29th, the Tomorrow’s Executives Affinity Group hosted a landmark event with a panel of executive women in an intimate setting.

The 2009 HBA Metro Chapter Mentoring Program, “kicked off” its first official meeting at a dinner at the Daiichi Sankyo training facility on April 27. There was an air of excitement and chatter in the room as Mentor and Mentee groups learned about one another and their reasons for enrolling in the program.

The first Metro Chapter Evening Program of the 2009 series, themed “360º of Leadership”, took place at Schering-Plough on March 31. Thanks to both the format and to the individual speakers and panelists, the program was entertaining, insightful, constructive and educational.

Successful career transitions do not happen by accident. They are a result of intensive self-exploration, strategic planning and powerful networking. This was the message from the Career Skills Affinity Group Event held at DRAFTFCB HealthCare in New York with close to 30 attendees.
“Building on Your Mentoring Momentum” was the theme celebrated at an October 7 dinner meeting that marked the culmination of a nine months’ group mentoring pilot program. Launched by the HBA Metro Chapter at the beginning of 2008, the pilot program was designed to connect a small group of women from various areas of the healthcare industry who sought the benefits of a mentoring relationship and the ability to expand their network within HBA.
HBA women have never been known to uniformly storm the Bastille on our high horse and claim our freedoms and equality rights. It is just not our style to be Bronco Busters.
How do you create a communication platform with ex-US colleagues and business partners based on mutual understanding, shared trust and cultural acceptance? In this article we are capturing this theme of the Executive Women’s Breakfast (EWB) held at the Celgene Corporation in Summit, New Jersey on November 18, 2008.
The Women in Finance (WIF) Affinity Group launched its first event with a prestigious group of panelists, which included Helen Boudreau, Vice President of Finance at Pfizer, Inc., Kendall O’Brian, Vice President of Group Finance at Johnson and Johnson, and Meryl Zausner, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Novartis Pharmaceutical Corporation—Meryl was also HBA’s 2007 Woman of the Year.
