Chapters and Affiliates
The HBA began in the metropolitan New York area. Over the years, the HBA has expanded to meet the networking and skill-building needs of professional businesswomen in healthcare across a variety of geographic areas.
In 2000, the first HBA chapter was launched in Atlanta, Georgia. This was followed by San Francisco, California and Boston, Massachusetts in 2001. In 2003, the Metro Chapter (Connecticut, New York and New Jersey) was spun off from the then national organization. Also in 2003, three additional chapters were created: Indianapolis, Indiana; Chicago, Illinois; and Mid-Atlantic, which provides programs and services for HBA members in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and Washington, DC.
In 2006, two new chapters launched: Research Triangle Park, North Carolina and Greater Philadelphia, for members in Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. During 2007, our chapter in Europe launched and a new affiliate formed in St. Louis, Missouri. The launch of the Southern California chapter and the emergence of a new affiliate in Ohio occurred in 2008. Our growth continued in 2009 with the launch of the San Antonio, Texas chapter. In 2010 a pre-affiliate was formed in Tampa, Florida and Ohio transitioned from an affiliate to a chapter.
Please visit each chapter or affiliate section of the website to get periodic updates on their continued progress and register for local events where you live, work or travel.
