Chapters and Affiliates

HBA Expands Globally

The HBA has expanded geographically to meet the needs of women throughout the country. Originally, events were held in only in the U.S., specifically New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. Over the years, members relocated and wanted to continue the networking and skill-building programs that only the HBA offers. The HBA therefore began to expand to locally meet the needs of career minded, professional businesswomen in healthcare across the country and around the world.

In 2000, the first HBA chapter was launched in Atlanta, Georgia, followed by the San Francisco Bay Area, California and Boston, Massachusetts in 2001. In 2003, the Metro Chapter (Connecticut, New York and New Jersey) was spun off from the then national US organization. Also in 2003, three additional chapters were created: Indianapolis, Indiana; Chicago, Illinois; and Mid-Atlantic (Maryland, Delaware, Washington, DC, and Virginia).

In 2006, two new chapters were launched: Research Triangle Park, North Carolina followed by Greater Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Pennsylvania and the New Jersey counties directly surrounding Philadelphia); along with the a new affiliate in San Antonio, Texas.

In 2007, HBA expanded outside of the US with the launch of HBA Europe which covers the geographies of Switzerland, Italy, France, and Germany. This same year, another US affiliate was created in St. Louis, Missouri.

In 2008, HBA is proud to announce Southern California as an official chapter and a new affiliate in Columbus, Ohio. There continues to be strong interest for additional affiliates worldwide. In 2009, HBA expects to introduce new affiliates within the US and abroad.
