HBA Europe Chapter needs a few good leaders!

Several key committee positions are available for HBA Europe Volunteers

Editor of the HBA Europe Chapter Newsletter: EuroVoice

  • The EuroVoice needs a new editor who is willing to coordinate the publication of the newsletter four times a year. The editor has the following responsibilities: define the theme/topics to be covered in the newsletter; identify people who can write the articles and make sure that these people respect the deadline; coordinate interesting interviews; edit the content where needed; collect all the material (articles, pictures etc.) for the preparation of the newsletter; make sure the newsletter is published on the HBA website; make sure the email blast is sent to all HBA Europe members. There will be lots of help with the technical parts of the job. Usually a good part of the content is covered by articles from the different events.

HBA Programs Committee

  • Local Coordinators for HBA Programs (Two positions: one in Basel, one in London).
    The local coordinator for HBA Programs (at each location) has the responsibility to oversee all the activities for a successful and effective planning and execution of local programs, in coordination with the HBA Europe co-directors of programs. A local coordinator should work in a team with a local committee and can recruit as many committee members as needed in order to execute all the planned activities. The local coordinator will have the responsibility of coordinating and overlooking the activities of the committee.

    The main areas of responsibility of the local coordinator are: logistic coordination (database management, registration and event execution, follow-up / evaluation), speaker coordination, event management with HBA’s event team/reconciliation and material production. The assignment of these activities to one or more committee members to ensure a balanced and coherent distribution of activities is a responsibility of the local coordinator.

    Requested organizational skills, punctual personality, comfortable with working in a team, excellent project management skills. Leadership skills highly recommended.

    Time requested: five to seven hours/month. In addition, a couple of days before and following a program, the time commitment may increase depending on the size of involvement by volunteers and the chapter board.
  • Local Committee Members for HBA Programs (Basel, Frankfurt, London, Milan, Paris).
    Local committee member positions may be open in any of these locations. Your role will be defined by the local coordinator at your location and could include one or more tasks as listed: logistic coordination (database management, registration and event execution, follow-up / evaluation), speaker coordination, event management with HBA event team/reconciliation and material production. Requested organizational skills, punctual personality, comfortable with working in a team. Leadership skills highly recommended.
    Time requested: a few hours before, during and/or after the event.

Membership Committee

  • Membership Renewals and Expiration.
    Collaborate with the director of membership to build a strategy that facilitates membership renewals. Propose a pro-active approach to highlight individual and collective membership expirations. This person should be willing to personally commit to significantly expand the membership of HBA Europe; be an active contributor/a doer.
    Time requested: two to four hours per week.
  • On-boarding.
    Collaborate with the Director of Membership to build an on-boarding strategy, which is consistent across Europe. Ensure that new members are quickly integrated into the HBA. This person should be willing to personally commit to significantly expand the membership of HBA Europe; be an active contributor/a doer.
    Time requested: two to four hours per week.
  • Membership Statistics.
    Continuously infuse the membership committee with ideas and insights derived form statistical analysis. Participate in DART. This person should be willing to personally commit to significantly expand the membership of HBA Europe; be an active contributor/a doer.
    Time requested: two to four hours per week.

Mentoring Committee

  • Chair of Mentoring Development Program.
    Coordinate with the director of mentoring for the planning, set up and maintenance of the HBA mentoring programs. This includes database management of mentors/mentees, communication with both groups regarding profiles, matching criteria, planning and execution of the different programs. Great opportunity to learn about mentoring principles and success factors for personal use. Requested good organizational and communication skills; preferable previous experience in project management (medium level).
    Time requested: four to six hours per month.
  • Mentoring Development Program Assistant.
    Participate in the set up and maintenance of the HBA mentoring program, including database management of mentors/mentees, communication with both groups regarding profiles, matching criteria, planning and execution of the different programs. Great opportunity to learn about mentoring principles and success factors for personal use. Requested good organizational and communication skills; preferable previous experience in project management (medium level).
    Time requested: three to four hours per month.

Talent Management Committee

  • Openings Coordinator.
    Make sure that the document reporting all open volunteer opportunities is up-to date and sent out to appropriate parties; make sure that the website for the EU chapter is current with volunteer opportunities. Desired organizational and writing skills.
    Time requested: one hour per week.
  • Database Manager.
    Input all new volunteer information in the volunteers database and keep it up to date. Desired organizational skills and excel knowledge.
    Time requested: one hour per week.
  • Developer of Meet and Greet Program.
    Collaborate with the director of talent management to define plan for the meet and greet program. Coordinate with the local coordinators for HBA programs to verify that they have all materials on volunteering to present/distribute at the meeting; verify that all documents are updated; brief the local coordinators to take responsibility for meeting and greeting potential volunteers by approaching new members and informing them about HBA volunteering and the benefits thereof. Required knowledge of HBA program dynamics.
    Time requested: two hours per event.
