Several key committee positions are available for HBA Chicago Volunteers
Member Value Committee
Buddy and Onboarding Program - New Member Buddies
Time Commitment: 90 minutes/month on a flexible basis
Description: Contribute to the team by on boarding new members, and serve as a buddy in the new member buddy program
Make phone calls, send emails, and meet new members
Help new members maximize their membership by answering questions and helping them achieve the reason why they joined the HBA
Communicate the HBA value proposition
Qualification/Skills:
Comfort with or willingness to learn new skills, engage others, communicate the value proposition of HBA

New Member Orientation - New Member Orientation Participants
Time Commitment: One or two hours per month, two to four months/year
Description:
Contribute to the team in executing new member orientation luncheons or webinars by inviting members, setting up the lunches/webinars, and meeting new members
Help new members maximize their membership by answering questions and helping them achieve the reason why they joined the HBA
Communicate the HBA value proposition

Member Value – Member Value Participants
Time Commitment: One to two hours per month
Description:
Contribute to the team in creating value for HBA members.
May conduct research on member needs, develop strategies and tactics to fulfill member needs, communicate the HBA value proposition, measure and monitor activities, and share results with member value director

Programs and Events Committee –
Special Programs Committee – Red Carpet & Monthly Evening Events
Time Commitment: One to two hours/week now through December
Description:
The Special Programs Committee needs four to five additional volunteers to help with planning monthly evening events. A total of four (4) events are planned one each in September, October, November, and December of 2011.
Day-to-day management and coordination of individual events. The committee will work together as a team to perform activities including
Topic brainstorming and development
Speaker recruitment and management
Coordinating logistics arrangements with local venue, including menu selection, room set up and guarantee numbers and dates
Coordinating audio-visual equipment needs
Managing event budget
Developing and managing event timeline
Coordinating with Apex Management to create and submit event forms to Corporate HBA to generate e-mail blast promotional messages and website posting
Monitoring event registration numbers
Oversee event on-site oversight and serve as the event host
Coordinate with chapter marketing committee to locally publicize events (e.g., create flyers, utilize social media, etc.)
Coordinate with market research team to develop on-line post-event survey
Qualification/Skills:
This is a wonderful opportunity to try new skills and leadership styles, as well as expand your professional network
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Enjoy working in a team environment
Above average organizational and project management skills
Proficient with MS Office software, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Retention Program – Communications Specialist
Time Commitment: 90 minutes/month on a flexible basis

This committee seeks four additional volunteers to:
Engage existing members at events
Seek opportunities to recognize achievements of existing members
Communicate the HBA value proposition
Contact expiring members and dropped members (email/letter/phone)
Share results with retention team leader
Qualification/Skills:
Comfort with or willingness to learn new skills, influence others, engage people in dialogue

Acquisition Program – Communications Specialist
Time Commitment: 90 minutes/month on a flexible basis
Description:
This committee seeks four additional volunteers to:
Contribute to the team by engaging non-members at events
Communicating the HBA value proposition, contacting prospects (e-mail/ letter/phone)
Recruit at HBA programs
Conduct post-event follow-up with non-members (email/letter/phone)
Share results with acquisition team leader
Qualification/Skills:
Comfort with or willingness to learn new skills, influence others, engage people in dialogue

Marketing Research Committee
Post Program Analysis
Time Commitment: Three to four hours/month on a flexible basis
Description:
Work with Program committee to create post event survey to support committee goals
Analyze and create findings from the survey typically one a month with actionable recommendations for future programs using templates in Word or PowerPoint
Participate in monthly Marketing Research Team meeting calls
Qualification/Skills:
Interest in using/growing marketing research and analytical skills. Computer with Word, PowerPoint. Interested in expanding her professional network.

Marketing Committee
Chapter Newsletter Chair
Time Commitment: Three to four hours/month on a flexible basis
Description:
Prepare the monthly Chapter Newsletter
Create a schedule for monthly newsletter
Collect articles from other members, edit if necessary, and load into template
Acquire appropriate approvals
Publish approved newsletter
Participate in monthly Marketing Team meeting calls
Qualification/Skills:
Interest in using/growing marketing communications, project planning, or copy editing skills. Good organization and planning skills a plus. Willing to learn a simple online Corporate HBA system for publishing the newsletter.
Interested in expanding professional network.
