Following are HBA Groups that utilize volunteers to develop and implement the Association's products and services.

Affinity Groups
Women In Science (WIS)
Provides women in scientific roles with professional support for their full and equal career advancement, through interactive, empowering, educational, professional development programs and a platform that facilitates effective networking and collaboration. WIS membership includes women with an MD, PhD, PharmD, RN, RPh or other medical/scientific degree and/or women who are working in a research, medical or regulatory functions within the healthcare industry. Volunteer Committees
Committee work shape the direction of the HBA and provides volunteers with opportunities to gain in-depth knowledge and skills development while honing leadership capabilities essential for professional growth.
The HBA encourages members to sharpen current skills and gain new expertise by volunteering on a variety of committee opportunities. This very rewarding work also can put volunteers on the track to positions on the HBA Board of Directors. Most importantly, involvement on a volunteer committee can provide the foundation for solid, long-lasting professional relationships and friendships.
30th Anniversary Special Committee
As appointed by the 2007 HBA Board to create and implement activities for the HBA’s 30th Anniversary.

A.C.E. Award Committee
Develops marketing, manages the submission process to the judges, plans and executes the award ceremony.
Deb Seltzer
Annual Leadership Conference Committee
Develops the agenda and brings together speakers and attendees for interactive workshops and motivating plenary speakers to hone attendees’ leadership skills, and address industry issues.
Arlene Kirsch
Association Relations Committee
Evaluates industry, academic and association groups for potential strategic partnerships.
Catherine Sohn
Business Development Committee
Defines and reviews the growth strategies for growth of the association through expansion into new markets and new products and services.
Leigh Ann Luzzi
E.D.G.E. in Leadership Study Commitee
Manages the planning through launch of the E.D.G.E. benchmarking leadership study and the associated support products.
Barbara Pritchard
Membership Committee
Provides oversight of membership development initiatives to ensure the needs of the
association's individual members and corporate partners are adequately addressed.
Susan Adler
Marketing Committee
Provides marketing plans and materials for all HBA initiatives that increase the organization’s
visibility and creates core tools for chapters/affiliates to increase membership and enhance reputation.
Violet Aldaia
Newsletter Committee
Creates the HBAdvantage and online eBulletin in which activities of the HBA are reported to
the membership, keeping members current with meetings. It also acknowledges individual and corporate partners and provides a forum for sharing relevant industry news.
Eileen Woods
Public Relations Committee
Maintains media relations and communication, providing PR support to all HBA committees
and identifying opportunities for creating positive publicity for the HBA.
Eve Dryer
Research Committee
Conducts quantitative and qualitative research for the HBA; collects and tabulates all meeting
feedback questionnaires and membership surveys; and reports findings that are used to help
the HBA offer programs and services relevant to member needs.
Sherry Fox
Web Site Committee
Develops and maintains the organization’s Web site including strategy, research, programming,
content development, sales, redesign improvements and Web site promotion.
Wendy White
WOTY Committee
Plans, implements and promotes the annual Woman of the Year Award Luncheon; oversees the
selection process and multi-faceted logistics; and works with award recipients, committee chairs
and HBA administrative staff.
